KG-UV6D: Coming to America

Well, it is actually already here. Here being Power Werx. I listed the specs when it was announced that it was coming to Australia, but you can get them on the Power Werx link, too.

The key:

"The KG-UV6D is a compact, high-performance dual band handheld commercial transceiver providing up to 5 Watts of RF power on VHF and 4 Watts on UHF, along with high audio output (500 mW).
Ideal for Fire, Police, FEMA, CAP, security patrols, business communications, schools, construction crews, universities, and other organizations that have FCC licensed frequencies. 2.5 step for FCC 2013 narrowband compliance. FCC Part 90 certified"

Thanks to commenter Chris for the tip.

  3. Having 72 more memory slots is nice, but I would expect that for ~$50 more, the S-meter would actually function correctly and that sensitivity would at least be on par with UV-3R, including FM Broadcast. BTW, certain USA dealers already include a 1700mAh with their current KG-UVs.

I think that going to SMA-F is a step backwards from rugged construction.

  4. Almost forgot to mention that the battery discharge while powered off issue needs to be fixed too.

  5. I would hope that when other dealers start selling it, the price will drop closer to the $100 mark.
