Baofeng BF-F8HP and UV-82C: Via BaofengTech

I posted about the Cyber Monday deals at BaofengTech, but I have more good news from them. Christmas has come early as I received a BF-F8HP (15% off today!) and a UV-82C from BaofengTech over the week-end. I've not even opened the boxes yet, but this is good news for me and for you, so stay tuned!

  1. I'll be interested to read your review on the BF-F8HP. I have the Euro version KT-980HP by Intek, which has been out about a year now.

I don't think the sales are very big, but there seem little complaints from those out there, except that the rubbish aerial is fitted as standard.

I keep laughing at the Amazon reviews of the Baofeng, with people repeatedly giving it 5 stars and comments like 'extra power, yee haa'.

Most of the serious reviews seem to indicate that it has some shortcomings.

    1. When looking at the Amazon link in Brick's post, it looks like they didn't make the same mistake as with the Intek. The antenna looks like the one supplied with the UV-B5 / UV-82. No smell of burning rubber for Mr. O'Lore.

    2. That's just silly. I would need the 10W HT to get to you.

  2. Waiting for your "CQ DX" signal to penetrate Dutch borders... ;)

    1. My reply was supposed to go to this message - it might make a little more sense.

  3. I just got one, and honestly I'm not entirely impressed. A normal UV-5R with the UV-B6 style antenna will not hit the local repeater inside my house, neither does this one. What I found very interesting is my anytone AT3888-A out of the box does. While thats far from scientific, minus the cool factor of being able to drain batteries faster, I have yet to see the extra power being useful.
