American Girl PSA

If American Girl happens to you, below are some helpful hints.

If you hold the dolls upside down when changing their clothes, their hair stays out of the way.

When changing their clothes, put both arms forward and gently squeeze them together. This makes it much easier to get the arms through the sleeves in most outfits.

Some shoes are hard to get on. For a difficult pair, start with the doll facing away from you. Place your thumb on the doll's heel. Start putting the shoe on and put your index finger on toes; applying pressure towards the heel. Squeeze the sides of the shoe with other hand and slide it over the heel.

Toys for Boys and Girls

So I've had this rock fortress since I was a small child. (See here for one that has many more of the original pieces.) I remember epic battles and hours of fun, so I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

You can't tell from the picture (as Ariel and her princess friends are all on the other side), but my daughter has turned it into Ariel's grotto. (And, apparently, I have said something witty while taking the picture.)

Best Toys - Ever!

Despite the wave of princesses and Hello Kitty stuff that is about to wipe out my home come December 25th, I believe this list of the Top 5 Toys of All Time is spot on. I've "owned" each one of them and still have them today. Although I don't play with them very often.

Tactical Toys

Soldiers in Afghanistan use a toy truck to find roadside bombs.
