Now my hope is on Anytone and the AT-588UV! If they succeed to make this radio in a price range between 225 and 275 USD, then we have a cheap radio and they will make money!
I think it's an Ok price, when you consider that they (409shop) sell a single band mobile radio for $175/$179. I was hoping 409shop.com would get the Truest Communication CO / HYS TC-UV55 (sometimes called TC-VU55), or even the HYS TC-UV66 with the knob.
And to the radio manufacturers, I suggest to start coming out with tri-band (146/222/440 MHz) radios, before the market gets saturated, and they can charge a little bit more for it too...
Just ran across PD0AC blog post about the Baojie BJ-UV55. He mentions that the radio does not have a built in speaker. Wow..I hadn't noticed that! Thanks for pointing it out.
I guess I am just conditioned that all mobile radios have a built in speaker...it may not be a good speaker...and an external speaker would be better. No speaker means you need to add at least $10-$15 to get an external speaker.
I have a Baojie BJ-UV55. Got it about a week ago. It does a have a speaker but it's in the back of the microphone! Another thing I've found out is that the offset's disappear when storing a repeater freq into memory so basically making repeater usage in memory mode useless. The Baofeng UV-5R does the same thing. The only way I could keep a offset in while in memory mode was to program the Baofeng UV-5R by computer. I have not been able to find any software to program the Baojie BJ-55 so far. Any help would be very helpful as I'm thinking and hoping for a similar result.
Still waiting for a 2/70 rig with 9k6 connection so that we can connect a dvrptr modem board on it. But When the price is higher than 140 euro i'll go for yaesu, regards,on3dd
That is a much better price as that Wouxun 920 radio!
ReplyDeleteNot all the features but much closer to what I would expect!

I've no idea if it works, but the software (and a copy of the English manual) seems to be available for download here:
