TYT Factory
I ordered a new radio - plus a few spares in case I broke anything. Actually, this is just one picture from a series posted by TYT of their assembly operations.

Vero Telecom 2012 HK Electronics Fair
Looks like the VR-2200 (aka TYT TH-9000) and something that looks an awful lot like a version of the TYT TH-UV3R. I will, unfortunately, not be attending...

TYT TH-9000: Remote Disable
Pretty cool demonstration of the remote disable (stun) of the TYT TH-9000. Special guest appearance by the UV-5R sending the DTMF tones.

TYT TH-9000: Reviews and Notes
This guy (see video) likes his TYT TH-9000. I don't have much interest in 440 or 220, but this doesn't dampen my interest in a 2M version (or the Vero Telecom VR-2200). According to this article, the unit is fairly large - his actual words are "fat piggy size." Lastly, I do know how I missed it, but Ed is selling the 220 version for $224.95. He doesn't say in the description that it is a TH-9000, but one of the comments does.

TYT TH-UV3R: Import Communications
Ed is quickly living up to his new, broader name of Import Communications. He has updated his website with a place holder for the TYT TH-UV3R (or UV-3R - it is listed both ways). The site says coming soon, but no date or price.

TYT TH-UVF9: Now Available
Kight Radio has updated their site today with the news that they are taking orders for the TH-UVF9:
"The TYT TH-UVF9 4 watt HT is Available Now. We have these in stock in our China warehouse and all orders will be shipped from China until we receive stock in the USA Office. If you want one NOW, you can order and delivery time is about 7 - 10 days from China. We should have stock in the US Office in about 2 weeks. I will be adding specs and more pictures today to the site."The site says out of stock, but has the note about shipping directly from China. Link here, but I cannot see the price on the product page. It is only on the main page: $89.95.

TYT TH-UVF9: Miscellaneous Notes
Once again thanks to Nate for the pointers:
TYT has listed the TH-UVF9 on their site. Also, a Hungarian site has a beautiful close up of the display. It looks so good, I'm assuming it is an enhanced marketing photo.

TYT TH-UV3R: Shipping May 15
Ed will be shipping the TYT TH-UV3R radios beginning May 15. He's got them here for $65 + $7 shipping in red or black. He also mentions that:
"Display will be regular LCD, not dot-matrix.
(Disappointing news; takes away from its coolness factor.)"
I agree with him. Is there anything else (keypad?) that makes this radio standout now?
And early adopters should be aware the specs say (emphasis mine):
"2.5 kHz Tuning Step (this feature will be added to later model)
DTMF -- CTCSS -- DCS (DTMF feature will be added to later model)"

TYT TH-UVF9: No Tri Band
I was just wondering around and thought I would check on the TYT TH-UVF9 that Radio-Mart was looking at modifying to be a tri-band radio. They've updated their page with the following:
"We managed to have had a prototype we were playing with that we managed "ok" results on the 1.2 band however it is not cost effective and we have found time consuming to offer this as an option and as I understand it if we sell a modified transceiver then it will itself need to be tested to see if it meets FCC approval so bottom line, sorry it does not seem worth it at this time."

TYT TH-UVF10
Thanks to Nate for the link to the TYT TH-UVF10. Not many details on the site, but I think we will see more and more LCD screens... more color and larger.

TYT MD-380: Purchasing and Videos
I posted about being able to hack the TYT MD-380 and pointed to my Amazon link for purchasing. I forgot that my friends at BuyTwoWayRadios.com have them as well. (Remember modifying the radios may void your warranty, so don't expect them or anyone else to replace the radio if you brick it!)
The BuyTwoWayRadios site has a couple of videos about the MD-380:
