I'm sorry but the idea of Star Trek cosplayers walking around a Renaissance Faire like time travelers will always be hilarious and amazing to me. pic.twitter.com/pcNtrJ3QfE— Hell is Empty (So fill it with Nazis) (@Sleestak) October 11, 2019

Yassin's Falafel House
Last year, Yassin's Falafel House was voted America's nicest place.
Recently someone broke into the restaurant. The following was posted on the door.

Music Sales by Format
A really cool animated chart of music sales by format... watch the rise and fall of 8-track, cassettes, CDs, downloads, and streaming.
CDs represented 95% of sales in 2002. Nothing else has reached that dominance (yet).

New iPad
The new iPad was announced. I think I'm going to break down and get one for myself - although I am considering the iPad Pro as well. We used our iPad 2 as our only tablet for years, so I consider this a long term investment.
The new iPad is only $329 (32 GB), but upgrading to 128 GB seems prudent. Amazon has the 128 GB model available for pre-order at $399 (a $30 discount).
The Pro models are really slick with the Pencil 2 that attaches/charges to the side, but it is double the price.

Go Vols
Florida kid shows up to school with a homemade University of Tennessee shirt. He gets picked on.
UT sends him a bunch of official gear, decides to produce his t-shirt (with 50,000 pre-orders), and offers him a 4-year scholarship.

Mountain Dew
Maybe I knew this, but I had totally forgotten that Mountain Dew was a Knoxville product:
"Tennessee bottlers Barney and Ally Hartman developed Mountain Dew as a mixer in the 1940s. Soft drinks were sold regionally in the 1930s, and the Hartmans had difficulty in Knoxville obtaining their preferred soda to mix with liquor, preferably whiskey, so the two developed their own. Originally a 19th-century slang term for whiskey, especially Highland Scotch whiskey, the Mountain Dew name was trademarked for the soft drink in 1948."I've mostly given up soft drinks, but I went through a phase where I was drinking two cans of Mountain Dew a night. (Yikes!) The Livewire Orange is still my go to drink if I'm on the road over night.
