Yes Brick these things could be of great value of setting up a mesh network in the ham frequencies it the firmware is correct. I gave a WRT54 to my local group and it is sitting on top of a nearby mountain. Jason is correct. Was a long time ago but had mine with Tomato software.
I still use a WRT54G as my router for my home network. Mine is currently running Tomato which I switched to after having a lot of trouble with DD-WRT. Does everything I need it to(specifically DDNS).
I've got an extra one on hand that I might use as a repeater for my wifi or for tinkering Broadband Hamnet.
Anyone with a Linksys or Netgear router should check if their model has a recently discovered backdoor.
