The WRT54G router has been reincarnated as the WRT1900AC. I had one of the WRT54G routers and recommended it to many others. I'd be interested in the new one, but not for $300. I'll stick with my ASUS RT-N66U for half the price.

  1. Anyone with a Linksys or Netgear router should check if their model has a recently discovered backdoor.

    More info:

  2. The WRT54 routers are now being used for Broadband Hamnet.

  3. Yes Brick these things could be of great value of setting up a mesh network in the ham frequencies it the firmware is correct. I gave a WRT54 to my local group and it is sitting on top of a nearby mountain. Jason is correct. Was a long time ago but had mine with Tomato software.

  4. I still use a WRT54G as my router for my home network. Mine is currently running Tomato which I switched to after having a lot of trouble with DD-WRT. Does everything I need it to(specifically DDNS).

I've got an extra one on hand that I might use as a repeater for my wifi or for tinkering Broadband Hamnet.
