Wouxun KG-UV920P-A: Review in April QST

In short, the reviewer (KN4AQ) finds many of the problems that people who are familiar with the unit have already discovered. I actually think he is pretty fair and, in fact, generous in some areas. For example, he suggests that the radio might be right for those who like the price and don't mind some of the "rough" spots. I'm sure this will generate any number of suggestions for better alternatives of both new and used rigs.

I'd like them to take a look at the KG-UV950P and report on those findings.

  1. In spite of my "Chinese Stuff Fetish", I still believe that Japanese mobile radios rule.

  2. BTW, I can't read QST, but aren't they a bit late with that? That radio underwent numerous revisions since its inception.

    1. They are usually behind. (It took them a long, long time to review the UV-3R.) They mention in the article that the first unit they got failed to "meet Part 97 FCC requirements for emission purity" and that it had scrambling enabled. They got a second unit that had scrambling disabled and didn't have the emissions problem.

  3. Does anyone know the microphone pin out of this radio please?
