Woo hoo! I waited long enough for Points of Impact (Frontlines Book 6) to go on sale for $0.99.
I've previously posted about the series and even paid a whole $5 for one of the books. With this sale, the first book is $1.99, but all the others are $0.99.

S&W M&P Shield 2.0
I'm seeing lots of folks (online and in the real world) talking about the new version of the S&W M&P Shield. Lasers, flashlights, suppressors - oh my!

CZ-75B
I'm a fan of the CZ-75 due to reports like this:
So this wraps up the CZ-75B Omega 2k round test. The gun was field-stripped and lubed with Lucas Extreme Duty Gun Oil on November the 6th, and has since fired 2,000 rounds, most of it filthy, steel-cased TulAmmo, with no further cleaning or lubrication. The gun has not once failed to go through the complete cycle of operation. The front sight's tritium vial leaked all its radioactive glow-y stuff, but there have otherwise been no parts breakages.CZ posts.

Fields of Fire and the Frontlines series
Marko Kloos is about to release the latest in his Frontlines series - Fields of Fire (Book 5). I can't get his books for free at library, so I will shell out the $5 on Amazon for it. If you've not read the others, he's got them on sale for a dollar each. Obviously, he's trying to get you hooked, so you'll spend the big bucks like me.

Knox Guns
The local NPR station is doing a series of stories about guns called "Five Guns."
I missed the final Diversity Dialogue of semester that focused on campus carry.

UTK Diversity Dialogue Town Hall: Campus Carry
I wish I could make it to the Diversity Dialogue Town Hall: Campus Carry, but I've got a prior commitment for that time:
"The Division of Student Life’s Diversity Committee is excited to host the final Diversity Dialogue Town Hall event of the semester on Tuesday, November 15th at 6:30PM in Alumni Memorial Building Room 32. This Town Hall will cover the recently passed Campus Concealed Carry Policy (Tennessee Law TCA 39-17-1309) which allows generally all UT full-time employees with a valid handgun permit to carry a concealed handgun on UT property.
We will hearing from members of the University of Tennessee Police Department, Faculty Senate, Students for Concealed Carry, and the Knoxville Chapter of Moms Demand Gun Sense in America."

Walther P22: Sentinel Captured Spring Guide Rod
I agree with Oleg - reassembly of the P22 requires a fair amount of gymnastics. Twenty bucks for this captured spring guide rod from TANDEMKROSS sounds like a bargain.

Gun Emojis
Apple trades a pistol emoji for a water gun. Microsoft trades a toy gun emoji for a more realistic pistol.
So what you see will vary by platform. That doesn't sound like a good idea.

To: UT Faculty and Staff
From: Troy Lane, associate vice chancellor for public safety
Subject: Information for Faculty and Staff about Concealed Handgun Law
This spring the General Assembly passed Public Chapter 1061. The law, which takes effect on July 1, allows generally all UT full-time employees with a valid handgun permit to carry a concealed handgun on UT property. To read the law, visit http://utpolice.utk.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/48/2016/06/pc1061.pdf.
The university has adopted a new safety policy at http://policy.tennessee.edu/safety_policy/sa0875 concerning firearms and has posted a list of commonly asked questions at http://policy.tennessee.edu/sa0875-firearms-faq.
At 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, the University of Tennessee Police Department will begin registering full-time employees who intend to exercise their right to carry a concealed handgun on UT property on or after July 1. For a definition of full-time employees, visit http://policy.tennessee.edu/hr_policy/hr0105.
To register, applicants are required to go to the UTPD office at 1101 Cumberland Avenue to complete the paperwork and sign the application in the presence of a sworn UTPD officer. Knoxville-area employees who intend to carry a concealed handgun on university property in the Knoxville area should come to UTPD to register.
Applicants must bring their:
- Faculty/staff identification card
- Valid Tennessee driver s license
- Valid Tennessee handgun permit
The registration process requires applicants to acknowledge their responsibilities in carrying a handgun, which include their duty to secure and conceal it. UTPD will retain the list of registered permit holders, which can be shared only with other law enforcement agencies.
Full-time employees are prohibited from carrying a concealed handgun into meetings about tenure and employee discipline. Full-time employees may not carry a handgun into any stadium, arena, or auditorium when university-sponsored events are under way. Other prohibited locations are hospitals and offices where medical and mental health services are the primary services provided: Student Health Center, Veterinary Medical Center, Early Learning Center, and the speech and hearing clinics. A map of all prohibited locations is available at http://utpolice.utk.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/48/2016/06/UT-Concealed-Carry-Map.pdf.
This new law does not extend the right to carry a concealed handgun on campus to students. Therefore, full-time employees enrolled in a class or classes at UT are unable to carry a concealed handgun on UT property.
UTPD will offer a voluntary training course that will cover firearm safety, reiteration of statutory requirements and limitations, a review of prohibited locations, personal liabilities, and other pertinent topics. Information on the classes will be provided to registrants.
If you have questions, please contact UT Police at 865-974-3114.
