Logitech Harmony Smart Control
In addition to the app to control my HVAC , I need one of these Logitech Harmony Smart Control remote systems to control my TV from my phone. Here is the link to the product page on the Logitech site.

Puxing PX-UV973
John, KD8DVR, is taking a look at the Puxing PX-UV973. He's excited as it will do cross-band repeat. The specs are here and his first thoughts are here.

Rotary Encoder
Thanks to Ken who pointed out that I can get a replacement rotary encoder. I suspect Eileen Lin of Leixen, who has been trying to help me, had to post it, so I could order it.
So that's what one looks like when it isn't in several pieces. :)

Kirisun S760: English Manual
The 409Shop has been listing more radios (thanks anonymous!):
"09 shop has a lot of models now. They have a S780, S760, S785 (no keypad) V688, and V689. Literally adding new ones to the site every day.
409 also said on their website that the S780 takes a Motorola 2 pin connector for programming and headset.
I cannot tell the difference on the S760 and S780 other than cosmetics. Kirisin does not have them on their website."They have also posted an English manual on their Facebook page here.
How bad is it?

New Mini Toy
My Android Nook Color experiment was not a failure (1) (2), but it never really turned into my "go to" device. I've really enjoyed my iPhone, so I decided to try the iPad Mini. So far, I love it. I've used it at home, work, and church. Mail, Calendar, Chrome, Gmail, Notes, Seven Little Words (game), YouVersion Bible, Kindle, Twitter, QST, and Dropbox are just a few of the apps I use on it. While a little awkward, it will fit in the front pocket of my slacks. Yet, it is big enough that I can type (in landscape mode) fairly well. I think the real test will be to see how much blogging I do from it.
On a side note, our neighbors got a new Mini for their daughter. Here my daughter is taking it for a test drive.
