Google Keep
So Google has an alternative to Evernote and they are calling it Google Keep. I'd be kinda excited about that, but given the coming demise of Google Reader, I'm afraid of making a commitment.

Google Reader
I'm on a webinar with Google regarding changes to our spam filtering. Can't wait for the Q and A so I can ask them about killing Google Reader.

Chromebook Pixel
Sexy, probably impractical for what I do, expensive, but I'd love to play with one.

iEye
iPads purchases reduces sales of Macs. According to Business Insider, Apple's next move will be to replace the iPhone with a Head Mounted Display. So, we should see an interesting battle between the Google Goggles and the iEye.

Microsoft is Pivoting
Is Microsoft going to buy the market? From TNL.net:
"Let’s remember here that Microsoft has over $50 billion in cash. What if it committed one fifth of that to the new platform ($10 billion) and decided that its attack on the market would be on build quality and pricing. Doing so could push the tablet in the $100–200 range and the PC into the $400–500 range, making it substantially more competitive (messaging: you can get a tablet from Apple or you can get a PC AND a tablet from Microsoft)."

Made in the USA?
The new Google Nexus Q is designed and manufactured in the USA. Is that a big deal?

4,000+ Android Devices
Wow. More than 4,000 different devices are running Android. Contrast that with a few models of iPhones and iPads.

Google Ad for Springfield XD and Surefire
"It's funny how calm you can be with a Springfield XD in your hand," writes Gundotra. "And for extra measure, my Springfield XD stays by the bedside tonight."

What does Google think about you?
This reminds a little of TiVo's ability to suggest other television shows you might like... you can see what Google knows about you based on your web habits. Sign into your google account and click here.

2-Step Verification for Google
After reading this and confirming that Eric Schmidt is not in my friend list on Facebook, I have activated the two step authentication for my Google accounts. Now logging in requires two factors - something I know (the password) and something I have (my mobile phone). You can register a computer for 30 days, so you don't have to repeat the process all the time.
It is not too intrusive on the main Google pages, but not all of their apps are configured to require the code from your mobile phone. In those cases, Google creates a special, complex password that you must use.
I just cannot imaging losing all the work from the past year. I have been doing the poor man's backup, but I was sending to the Gmail account that is tied to the blog. I even commented then that might not be the best strategy. I'm off to change that now.

Google+ Plus Google Search
And this is where it gets interesting... Google+ seemed to be an also ran when it comes to social networking. Now that they are integrating your Google+ information into their 600 pound gorilla - search - this thing might just take off.
I've played around with the "Show Personal Results" and haven't been blown away, but I see the potential.

Google stock drops... some say because of Motorola. If it is because of Motorola, then it is because they split off the most valuable segment - ham radio!

Majel
My wife just got an iPhone and we love playing with the Siri app. It has been surprisingly good at voice recognition and the results have been both fun and useful. (Although Siri did have a fit when were asking "what color is Paddington Bear's hat?")
I can only image that competition will make the tools even more useful in the near future. Bonus points to Google for using Majel as the name for their app. It has immediate geek cred and works on several levels.
