Repercussions for Winning

So you beat a younger, smaller, less talented basketball team by 98 points...

What are some potential lessons for the winners?

  • Don't try too hard.
  • Using your talents is unfair.
  • Aim for the lowest common denominator.
  • Don't be too good or people won't like you.
  • Life isn't fair.

For the losers?

  • Work harder! (Or not!)
  • Practice and try again next year!
  • How to assign blame - it is the fault of the coach or the administrators.
  • If you can't beat them, then get a really good job and buy an NBA team.
  • Life isn't fair.

Molon Labe Sign on Gameday

We're winning? Actually, I have no idea why someone would be holding up a sign at College Gameday that reads "Molon Labe" and has a picture of Bert (as in "and Ernie"). My Google-fu was weak on trying to figure this out.

Quote of the Day

Bruce Pearl is selling his house. His quote is priceless.
Pearl said Monday that the property was "clearly my dream home", but that he needs to downsize. "Now that I'm not the basketball coach and may not be doing quite as much entertaining, it's bigger than what we need," he said.
Emphasis is mine.

How we warm up in the morning...

I like for the guys in my IT department to get things going in the morning by doing a little bit of physical activity. It looks something like this...

I.T.!
Fired Up!
I think winning programs have that level of excitement and enthusiasm in most of their practices.

Knoxville Force

Knoxville has pro soccer. Who knew? Despite loving the sport, I don't keep up with MLS, UEFA, or the Premiership. I guess that's why I've been to a roller derby bout, but had no idea about the Knoxville Force.
