Darwin
I've been working from home and I have a new friend... a robin that insists on attacking our kitchen windows. He/she may be building a nest somewhere around the house, but he spends a lot of time flying into the windows. I've named him Darwin.

CheckMark
I'm going to try out CheckMark - an app for doing location based reminders. I use Siri all the time for time-based reminders - "check the laundry in ten minutes" or "replace the air filters at 6:00 PM on Saturday." I think the location based reminders would be nice as the GPS location acts as filter, so you only get the reminder when you can do something about it - "check for .22lr when at Wal-Mart." If the granularity is good, I might even use it to remind of tasks when I am in a specific building at work.

You Are Not Special
Or as I've seen in some signatures: You are special. Just like everyone else. Text here. If you've not already seen it a hundred other places, it is worth your time.

Direction
I had a really bad boss who didn't understand IT, but even worse, he didn't understand the company. He had grand plans and big goals that did not fix the organization at all. That was the worst. Now, I have a boss that is completely disconnected from what I do. On average, I communicate with him once a month. It only happens when something major fails or I need capital for a project. Otherwise, he is completely hands off. While I like to think that speaks of the confidence he has in me and the team, I still feel a bit like Dilbert on occasion.

Beat E-mail
One man's strategy to manage e-mail... my thoughts:
- Touch messages as few times as possible - obviously once is best.
- In order of preference
- Delete
- Archive
- Delegate
- Act
- Delay (mark for follow-up)

Past My IT Prime
Oh great. First, no OT for IT workers. Now, I find I am past my prime by several years.

Get the bacon. I'll cover you.
Yeah, it is a commercial for Spiceworks. But, I give them credit for:
- a good, free (ad supported) help desk
- decent production quality on the video
- zombies
- guns (NERF)
- I.T. guys
- bacon
