Hurry Up Future!

I signed on with Comcast for a couple of years to save some money, but when that agreement is up, I'm sure I will be cutting the cord... DirectTV and Sling streaming options.

The article mentions a cloud DVR service that's got me excited, too. Having all my videos in the cloud and being dependent on the network would bother me - except that's basically what my X1 is today.

TYT MD-380: Purchasing and Videos

I posted about being able to hack the TYT MD-380 and pointed to my Amazon link for purchasing. I forgot that my friends at BuyTwoWayRadios.com have them as well. (Remember modifying the radios may void your warranty, so don't expect them or anyone else to replace the radio if you brick it!)

The BuyTwoWayRadios site has a couple of videos about the MD-380:

Chromecast

An appropriately titled lifehacker post: Four Things You Didn't Know You Can Do With Your Chromecast:
"Forget your TV remote—if you have a Chromecast hooked up and always powered on through the usb adapter, you can turn your TV on and even switch to the Chromecast's input with your mobile device."
Sure enough, it worked like magic. I had always been turning on the TV and switching the input.

Chromecast

Chromecast - a $35 (plus shipping/tax) HDMI dongle for streaming video to your TV. It will stream from Chrome, Youtube, and Netflix. They same more to come - Amazon maybe? You can control it from a PC or tablet. Buy now and you get 3 months of Netflix free. I have a Wii for Netflix in our living room, but the TV in our bedroom isn't connected at all.

I'm in for one.

harrymccracken Now Google’s unveiling Chromecast, a tiny HD-streaming gizmo you plug into a TV’s HDMI. Yup, another Google approach to Net-enabling TVs.

Christmas Music - 12 Days by Straight No Chaser

This video from 1998 predates some of the current A cappella craze and these guys have a lot of fun with a Christmas remix. I really like the "Carol of the Bells" section.

Revolver Etiquette

As a newbie, I don't really appreciate their other "Gun Gripe" videos. When I go into the gun store, I know I am ignorant about lots of things (and being self/internet educated my teachers aren't always the best) when it comes to guns, but I hate being treated like an idiot. And I am sure they get lots of jerks and/or idiots darkening their doors.

However, I really liked this video. I bet I've fired revolvers less than 25 times, so this video did help me learn something.

Get the bacon. I'll cover you.

Yeah, it is a commercial for Spiceworks. But, I give them credit for:
  • a good, free (ad supported) help desk
  • decent production quality on the video
  • zombies
  • guns (NERF)
  • I.T. guys
  • bacon
