Judgmental Maps - Knoxville
Wow. An amazingly judgmental map of my home town, Knoxville. I'm tagging this with "Ham Radio" since they reference the hobby on the map.
You have to know the town, but some of the labels are hysterical.
Burgers and ducks.
Used books.
Gold ball on a stick.

Marathon
I'll be running 26.2 miles on Sunday with about 7,000 runners who are doing the Knoxville Marathon, Half, or 5k. My personal goals are:
3:50 - Gold
4:00 - Silver
4:07 - Bronze
Even my "bronze" time puts me at a minute per mile faster than my first marathon. That's a lot faster, but to put this in perspective, I would need to finish in 3:15 to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Double Boston for Charity
I was patting myself on the back for the improvement in my running. Anything I have done pales in comparison to this... A Knoxville runner is going to do a Double Boston Marathon. He's going to begin at the finish and run to the start. Then he will complete the marathon with everyone else going from start to finish. That's 52.4 miles. And he's doing it to raise money for some people that were injured in the bombing last year. The couple has connections to Knoxville. Wow.

Knoxville Brew aka K Brew
My chef friend had been talking about a new coffee place: Knoxville Brew. They serve up a mighty fine cup of Joe. I had a simple drip (the El Ishco from El Salvador). It was quite smooth and had a fantastic flavor. K Brew isn't exactly close to my house, so that's good for my wallet.

CCA = TCA
For local guys... it looks like they moved forward with the name change to go with the ownership change from a while back.
Coal Creek Armory is now Tactical Advantage Corp.
On a side note, I went to the range and shot my M&P9 (along my other pistols) a couple of weeks back. So it only took me about 10 months to get to the range after purchasing it. I shot it okay, but I was still better with my CZ 75 SP-01.

Knoxville
So we like to read books (#11 in the US) including the Bible (#1 in the US), but we are also the most romantic (#1 in the US).
It is a shame our football team is so bad.

Coal Creek Armory
CCA has updated their website. (I guess tis the season for web designers to get to work.) It is much flashier, but I'm not sure it is an improvement. Of course, look at my site. I am not in a position to cast stones.
I saw on the FAQ that the Outpost is no longer open to the general public:
I saw on the FAQ that the Outpost is no longer open to the general public:
"The Coal Creek Armory Outpost is a training facility used for private courses and not open to the general public, as of October 2012."So maybe we didn't need two gun shops/ranges within spitting distance of each other.
After navigating several links, I found this post about the new owners. The changes are probably a result of this new ownership. Makes sense to me.

No More Ribbit
Tim, WB4GBI, posted a note about his 900 MHz repeater on his blog. but what caught my eye was this note:
"And on a final note, while at the repeater site, after taking care of a couple of matters for the " Frog," (that's the nickname of the radio station whose tower we share), I was also able to complete some work on the 146.94 repeater which removed the FM broadcast audio from the repeater audio. Now I know some will be disappointed that they can no longer hear the faint country music on 146.94, They can tune to 107.7 and hear it for real."
It is the end of an era.

There Be Dragons in Knoxville
One my favorite authors, George R.R. Martin, linked to an article about a dragon coming to Knoxville.
And speaking of GRRM and a Game of Thrones... the HBO series is so good, it is leading people to a life of crime (written version, cartoon version).
